My Story

familyI’m Carrie Alexander and I am a health coach who has struggled with intense health issues in the past.  Anxiety and depression crept up on me so quickly I didn’t even see it coming.  I slipped into a deep, dark hole I didn’t know how to get out of, or even if I wanted to get out of.  While in the depths, I developed a food allergy to barley and fructose, which caused ulcers in my digestive tract.  I became afraid of eating because it hurt so badly.

I decided I needed help so I began seeing a counselor in 2010.  I have been treated for several years for PTSD as well as severe anxiety and depression.  I have been on and off medication multiple times as my symptoms ebbed and flowed.  The doctors I saw offered no way out so I decided to take control of my own health.  I began researching, listening to tons of health talks, and experimenting.  I discovered a diet that ended up healing the ulcers in my digestive tract and allowed me to eat without excruciating pain.  I was on a strict gluten free and low fructose diet that proved to be great for my body.  In addition, I took training to become a yoga teacher – a modality that was imperative in my healing journey.  I also dove head first in using essential oils to reduce toxins, promote healing, and support me emotionally.  Finally, I really began nourishing my spiritual relationship and leaning on God in a way I never had before.

However, that was only the beginning of my journey.  As my mental and physical health improved I knew there had to be a way of healing my food allergies.  I combined many years of studying with a specific diet and supplements, along with consistent prayer.  And was able to heal my gut!  Later I became increasingly unhappy in my job, and I began looking for other options. My interest in health drew me to a certification as a health coach and I knew instantly that was the path for me!

So, here I am today:  a happy, healthy, healed, still journeying health coach.
